SUBPAR BAROQUE I created this animation as a means to explore the possibilities of 360º videos and ambisonic sound. The video is able to be played from a virtual reality headset or mobile device that allows the viewer to turn around within the shadowy, ghost inhabited, monoscopic bar space to observe how the animation unfolds.
THE EXQUISTE CYBORG This project piece titled "The Exquisite Cyborg" was developed with myself as Lead Animator. It was team of four with a Project Manager, Audio Engineer, and Compositor. The intention of the video was to portray a possible future through a post-humanistic lens, in which extreme robotic augmentation is available and convey the social economic divide that this revolution would most likely result in.
BLOCKED OUT Blocked Out is a pixel based animation. This was produced following a brief that required me to convey a simple narrative in three shots with a minimum of one character. Utilising the audio to tell the story of a heated discussion juxtaposed against a beautiful morning breakfast, I took the artistic liberty of making the single character be a humble bumble bee.
KATJU This short video titled "Katju" was developed as a four person project with myself as Artistic Director and the other three as Project Manager, Technical Artist, and Audio Engineer. The concept was based off of Kaiju films, where in a giant monster attacks a city. Rather than a colossal beast we decided to use a seemingly inanimate object as our antagonist.
HUMBUGGED Humbugged is my first attempt at photogrammetry. I obtained a deceased bug with which I photographed in order to develop a model. I then rigged, animated and scripted it. The environment was a physical cardboard box stage that I created, and using the same methods of photogrammetry, I was able to turn it into a digital asset.
TRAIN-ing This piece of 3D animation was all created within Unreal Engine 5. It was my first introduction to the software and an exploration into environmental art. All assets within the environment were sourced from UE5's market place and a little fun fact, the train is actually multiple busses linked together.
BYE BI PLANE Bye Bi-Plane was one of my first completed animation scenes. The intention of this project was simply to develop a story concept that clearly conveyed a character in action. For this piece I was influenced by watercolour works and noir aesthetics, intertwining them with rotoscoping methods.
ANIMEDLEY These two short videos were my contribution to a larger group animation in which an object enters from the left and leaves from the right, creating a continual looped animation that changes in concept and style. I choose to attempt a stop-motion style using digital images cut outs in the first and physically drawn/cut out pieces plus actual popped corn for the second.
FLOWER POT BANANA I have always been enchanted by the aesthetics of stop-motion animation and found the concept of using incorrect sound effects that still somewhat work with the motion or action of the video amusing. So with these two ideas in mind I created this short piece of work titled "FlowerPotBanana".
