PLANETARIUM PROJECTIONS

In early 2024, I was approached by the exceptionally talented cellist Kathryn McKee with a unique and inspiring proposition: to produce visuals for two of her newly recorded compositions, with the intention of projecting them during live performances in planetariums across Australia. I was given the creative freedom to select the tracks that resonated with me most, allowing me to engage with her music and explore its visual potential. From that point, I immersed myself in a process and began to craft a visual accompaniment that would complement and enhance the emotional tone of her piece. This collaboration was an exciting and novel experience. Combining music, technology, and immersive environments in a way I hadn’t previously explored. The project not only reaffirmed my passion for interdisciplinary work but also highlighted how under utilised planetariums are as venues for innovative cultural experiences such as live music and visual performance.

All music in both videos are original works from Kathryn McKee aka K Mak.
